Daniela Ruah Busts Out Her Moves on 'NCIS: Los Angeles'

Daniela Ruah says she didn't have to reach far to relate to her character, the tough but vulnerable Special Agent Kensi Blye on CBS's "NCIS: Los Angeles." "She had everything to do with me in terms of speaking languages and being well-traveled," Ruah notes. "Kensi's a Navy brat, so she lived in different places in the world. There was something about the character that connected with me."

We have two different stories about Eric Christian Olsen's character Marty Deeks' father.

1. 2x03 Borderline
Deeks tells Kensi that the last thing his father said to him was "I hate you" right before he shot a shotgun at him which was six years ago.


2. 2x17 Personal
Hetty tells Deeks that his father - Gordon John Brandell - died in 1998 in a moto accident.

Shane Brennan - Getting the run of the place

'THE producers get the money; the directors get the credit; the writers get the blame," the tough, bearded Australian writer is saying about the state of local TV, leaning forward slightly as if ready to move suddenly.

His name is Shane Brennan, and the 54-year-old just happens to be in charge of the two most successful scripted TV shows in the world, US military dramas NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. He continues as he signals a waitress, "something wet" being the request. "In general, Australian TV networks are suspicious of writers, who operate in a culture of disdain, seen vulgarly as merely employees, but in the American studio system they run the show." After a pause, he settles for a sparkling water. "Ice, lemon, the whole gamut," he adds.

We're in the small bar of Phillip Island's Silverwater Resort, about 80km from Melbourne, where Australian screenwriters are having their annual conference. Brennan is one of the special guests, along with British legend Jimmy McGovern, the award-winning creator of The Street and Cracker.

The thirsty Brennan has just spoken entertainingly at a session about the role of the so-called "showrunner" in US studio TV. Nearly all are writers -- though they're usually credited as executive producers -- and they have absolute control of the world's most popular TV shows.

Shane Brennan inks deal with CBS

He's the man behind two of CBS' most successful shows, and he's staying in the Eye fold for at least another three years.

Shane Brennan, exec producer of "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles," has inked a three-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios valued in the low eight-figure range.

Accord covers Brennan's services as exec producer on "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles," and it includes a development component.

Under the deal, Brennan will remain at the helm of "NCIS: Los Angeles" next season but hand day-to-day showrunning duties on the mothership to exec producer Gary Glasberg. Glasberg joined "NCIS" last season and quickly became a key lieutenant for Brennan, who has divided his time between the "NCIS" set in Valencia and the "NCIS: L.A." stage on the Paramount lot.

Henry Barrial - who played one of the paparazzi in the NCIS: Los Angeles episode "Hand to Hand" - got Rudolf Martin - who played Ari Haswari in the original NCIS - on board to play the lead role in his new film "PIG".

Pig is a self-financed narrative feature film written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Henry Barrial and produced by Mark Stolaroff. Pig has been shot and edited and is nearing completion, on its way to premiering at film festivals around the world. Pig is about a man who wakes up in the middle of the desert with a black hood on his head and his hands tied behind his back. He doesn't know where he is, how he got there, and most importantly, who he is. Pig is a mystery, a puzzle, a mind-game film, in the tradition of films like Memento or Seconds. It could also be classified as "indie sci-fi" or "lo-fi sci-fi".
